Motion Picture Restoration
Old fim material represents an important cultural and historical value. In order to preserve it, in the last few years digital film restoration has been explored and many techniques and models have been proposed. Employing Digial image processing techniques, Restoration results almost automatic, able to remove many kinds of defects and also its cost is lower than the classical film restoration.
Common defetcs on old film sequences are:
- Dust and Dirt
- Scratches
- Image vibration
- Flicker
- Mold
- Heavily disturbed or missing frames
- Captions and logos
